The Formula Student Project is a recognised European initiative in which university students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge by developing prototype racing cars.

TDGI, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and the development of young talent, has established a partnership with the Students’ Association of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and is supporting future engineers in this automotive engineering project.

This partnership not only strengthens the link between academia and industry, but also encourages creativity and technical excellence, preparing students for an increasingly demanding and dynamic labour market.

The competition starts in July in Austria and the stage in Portugal will take place from 3 to 7 September in Castelo Branco.

TDGI Industry – Laser Scanning Technology

3D modelling from a point cloud.

TDGI Industry, through its Industrial Projects department, has the laser scanning technology and a specialised team that enables it to survey a point cloud, move on to 3D modelling and develop all the detailed engineering, right through to the implementation phase.

What is a point cloud?

They are points obtained through laser scan mapping and image processing, allowing structures to be recreated into complete three-dimensional models. It is possible to gather various information such as volumetry, depth, elevation and location, at various levels of detail.

What is laser scanning technology?

It’s a technique that uses laser beams to measure distances and create detailed 3D representations of objects, equipment, machines, buildings, industrial plants and more.

 

Project at the Sidul factory, a case study in Industrial Engineering

With the aim of expanding and modernising the sugar transport line, TDGI successfully carried out the Engineering and Installation services contract at the Sidul Açúcares factory, the largest sugar refinery in Portugal and part of the ASR International, Inc. Group. The project included the supply, assembly and installation of a set of systems designed to increase the efficiency, quality, hygiene and safety of the manufacturing process, and TDGI also carried out the study, design and execution of the engineering detail for the new line.

With huge challenges in terms of planning and execution, the project was carried out in two years and fully met Sidul’s operational needs and requirements.
